We have made changes to the input, output, content, and format of the Geocoding, Address Parsing, and Census Variable Intersection Services.
To accommodate these changes, the Texas A&M GeoServices Service API's have all been upgraded to version 2.95. The geocoding, address parsing, and census intersection API URL's have been updated and are listed on the geocoding API page, address parsing API page, and the census intersection API page.
All users should begin migrating their web services calls to use these new versions. A new desktop geocoding client is also available on the download page.
The most significant changes to the Texas A&M GeoServices Geocoding, Address Parsing, and Census Intersection API's are the following:
- Additional output fields have been added to the geocoding output including the number of reference feature matched as well as information items about the tie breaking strategy and feature selection methods used based on our most current research - Goldberg, D. W., Cockburn, M. G. (2010). Improving geocode accuracy with candidate selection criteria. Transactions in GIS. Vol. 14 (S1), pp. 129-146).
- The geocode output reference feature geometry (GML) is now an optional field when the verbose option is selected.
